Boxer Books

A set of 4 miniature books in a handmade box. 8x10cm

I’ve always wanted to make a set of mini books like Maurice Sendak’s set that I so loved as a child. As we adopted our fourth boxer dog, I knew I had my subject. The drawings come from my sketchbook. A dog is a ready subject for daily drawing. I made an edition of 10 books that I gifted my family at Christmas last year.

I printed this book on my home printer. I drew the endpapers and handbound each book. I made dust jackets and finally I made the box they are housed in and cover for the box. I learned so much about book binding and box making and word document printing. It was fun and now we have our dog memories preserved!
